New Patient Information
New Patients:
For your convenience, we are open 7 days a week and have both morning and evening hours. If possible, please take the time to schedule your appointments in advance. This will ensure that you receive and retain the time slot that is best for you.
If you need to change an already scheduled appointment, please do so as soon as possible. If you are unsure of your appointment time, please call the office to confirm it . The phone number for Six Fishes Healing Arts, located at 750 South 15th Street is 215.772.0770. The phone number for Six Fishes Neighborhood Acupuncture, located at 2308 Grays Ferry Avenue is 215.772.1040.
Cancellation Policy:
Because initial appointments require extra time and time slots are tightly scheduled, we require new patients to provide 48 hours notice for cancellations. If you have missed an appointment with less than 48 hours notice, you will be responsible for the entire office visit fee. Thank you for your understanding.
For established patients, we require at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. If you have missed or rescheduled an appointment with less than 24 hours notice, you will be responsible for the entire office visit fee.
If you find that you are running late for your appointment, please give the office a call to let us know. We will do our very best accommodate you.
The Day Of Your Visit:
Please try to avoid eating or drinking anything that will stain your tongue, such as coffee, tea, grape juice or candy for at least an hour before arrival, as we will be examining your tongue and we want it to be its normal color. You will be most comfortable if you wear loose clothing, as acupuncture involves palpation and treatment of various parts of the body. Draping is provided to ensure modesty. Please refrain from wearing perfume, strongly scented oils and/or lotions on the day of your visit, as many patients are allergic to perfumes and fragrances.
Payment and Insurance:
We accept cash, personal checks, and credit cards. Payment is expected at the time of your visit. Although we only bill a limited number of insurance companies, we can provide you with the proper documentation to submit for reimbursement. We do not provide insurance billing/claims for massage therapy, only for acupuncture. Please see our page under services for more detailed information.
Sanitation:
At Six Fishes, we believe that the treatment begins from the moment you enter the office. We pride ourselves on providing the most healing experience in a calm, clean and beautiful environment. In addition to a hand-washing sink located between the treatment rooms, we also have hand sanitizer in every room. Our linens are laundered daily and all reusable equipment, such as cups and herb dispensary equipment are used once and then washed in a high-temperature dishwasher.
Acupuncture Safety:
We only use sterile, single use, disposable needles, which are discarded into bio-hazardous waste containers. Prior to needle insertion the skin is swabbed with alcohol. All Six Fishes practitioners are certified in Clean Needle Technique by the National Commission for the Certification of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Herbal Safety:
Six Fishes Chinese Medicine takes the issue of herb safety very seriously. We have received training in drug and herb interactions. The practitioners at Six Fishes are certified to practice Chinese Herbology by the NCCAOM and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania. All our custom formulas are dispensed by China Herb Company. We are uncompromising in our standards: All herbal products are tested for bacteria, mold, heavy metals and pesticides. Batch tracking of raw, liquid and granular extracts is maintained. Prepared formulas are manufactured according to strict Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). Custom formulas are labeled with the invoice number, practitioners and patients name; date of preparation as well the ingredients to insure the safety and accuracy of the herbal formula.
