We Love Ear Seeds and So Will You!

Are you looking for a natural and holistic way to enhance your well-being and promote relaxation? Try ear seeds!

Ear acupuncture, or auriculotherapy, has been used to treat people with millenia. Like reflexology, the ear is a micro representation of the body. After your acupuncture treatment, we often apply tiny seeds on tape to the points to enhance the effects of the treatment. During the early days of the pandemic, this became an important tool to help our patients over telehealth.

Ear seeds offer a simple yet effective approach to addressing various health concerns and supporting overall wellness. Let’s explore their benefits and how you can incorporate them into your self-care routine.

Understanding Ear Seeds and Auriculotherapy

Ear seeds are tiny seeds or metal beads used in auriculotherapy. This practice involves stimulating specific points on the ear to target various body areas. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear is considered a microsystem reflecting the entire body, with different points corresponding to organs, emotions, and systems within the body.

Benefits of Ear Seeds

  1. Stress Relief and Relaxation: By applying pressure to specific ear points, ear seeds can help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.
  2. Pain Management: Ear seeds are commonly used to alleviate discomfort and manage pain, whether related to headaches, menstrual cramps, or chronic conditions.
  3. Support for Emotional Well-being: Certain ear points are believed to influence mood and emotions, making ear seeds an option for addressing anxiety, depression, or mood imbalances. But it’s even more powerful. Ear seeds can be used to alleviate PTSD. Acupuncturists without Borders travels worldwide to sites of natural disasters (hurricanes, war, floods, the Mexico-US border are a few)
  4. Enhanced Energy Flow: Stimulating ear points with ear seeds can help restore balance to the body’s energy flow, promoting a sense of vitality and well-being.
  5. Addiction Treatment:  Ear acupuncture and ear seeds are used globally to help reduce drug cravings. NADA, the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, describes ” an ear acupressure and acupuncture intervention for trauma, substance misuse, abuse, dependence, and related behavioral and mental health conditions.” In fact, the community acupuncture movement is rooted in group ear treatments to manage addiction.
