My Acutonics Session: Sound, Healing, and Gold Geometry

My Acutonics Session: Sound, Healing, and Gold Geometry

I spend most of my life working with acupuncture needles, herbs, and the theories and wisdom of Chinese medicine. So when Dori invited me to experience a session of Acutonics — a sound-based therapy using tuning forks instead of needles — I said yes!

This wasn’t my first session; we worked together when she was developing her methods, But now, she’s more experienced. More confident in her work. And it really shows.

What unfolded was a truly surprising and profoundly healing experience.

What is Acutonics?

Acutonics uses precisely calibrated tuning forks placed on acupuncture points, chakras, and along the meridians. Instead of needles moving Qi, vibration and sound do the work. The tones resonate through the body, helping to balance the nervous system, release stored tension, and restore flow.

It’s a non-invasive, deeply relaxing journey that can take you to unexpected places of healing and self-discovery.

My Session

The treatment I had with Dori Miller was structured to unwind trauma and soothe long-held stress.

It began with a Tibetan singing bowl placed on my back. The deep resonance moved through me like waves, loosening tension I didn’t even know I was holding. Later, as I lay face up, the bowl was placed between my legs, its vibration grounding me more deeply into the experience.

From there, Dori introduced tuning forks she had carefully selected for me. She placed them directly on acupuncture points, allowing the sound to penetrate where needles might normally go. Each vibration hummed through my body, releasing, opening, and rebalancing.

From the moment the first fork sounded, I felt my nervous system drop into a state of safety and receptivity.

And then the experience became extraordinary.

With my eyes closed, I began to see intricate, shimmering patterns in my mind’s eye, reminiscent of Alex Grey’s visionary artwork. These patterns, like his paintings, seemed to represent the energy flowing through my body. It was as if the sound had unlocked a door in my consciousness, revealing an intricate architecture of healing and beauty.

It felt like a profound recalibration of my entire being. My body felt lighter, my mind clearer, and my spirit more at peace. It was a deeply transformative experience.

Why It Matters

We all carry stress. Some of it is recent, some of it stretches back decades. Acutonics offers a way to gently unwind what’s stuck without force, story, or even needles. For those of us who work with trauma — whether our own or our patients’ — this is a powerful adjunct to traditional medicine. If we don’t take time to rest, we lose our resiliency.

A Word About Dori Miller

Healing is only as powerful as the hands that guide it. Dori is an extraordinary practitioner, and her skill with Acutonics is matched only by her ability to listen deeply and hold a safe, compassionate space for healing to unfold.
