Chronic and acute pain is one of the most common complaints we see at Six Fishes.  Pain can make life miserable, affecting body, mind and spirit. We’re experienced and sensitive to Acupuncture and Chinese medicine are incredibly effective at alleviating pain.

Acupuncture triggers the body’s own healing mechanisms, easing physical and even emotional pain from the inside out, safely and naturally. And Chinese medicine’s long history with Martial Arts means that we have numerous strategies for managing every stage of injury, from acute to chronic.

The Archives of Internal Medicine published research from an international team of experts adds to the evidence that it does provide real relief from common forms of pain. The team pooled the results of 29 studies involving nearly 18,000 participants. Some had acupuncture, some had “sham” acupuncture, and some didn’t have acupuncture at all. Overall, acupuncture relieved pain by about 50%.

We have so many effective tools to get you back on your feet:  Our methods combine acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, electrical stimulation, infared light, traction, tuina, massage therapy and herbal medicine.

New to Six Fishes! Ortho-Functional ElectroAcupuncture

In order to provide lasting relief for joint and muscular dysfunction, Melanie Miller, L.OM. has completed advanced training in Ortho-Functional Electro-Acupuncture. This unique method utilizes trigger point patterns to target areas of pain, while stimulating neuromodulatory mechanisms that “re-wire” the brain’s experience of pain signals. This strategy increases perfusion of anti-inflammatory molecules to the affected area, while decreasing spinal processing of pain signals.

Ortho-Functional ElectroAcupuncture is beneficial for many acute and chronic pain, muscle and joint injuries, and repetitive stress injuries, and can be applied to all areas of the body.
